SHIBORI DYEING - Ori Nui Technique

Shibori is a traditional Japanese textile finishing technique that has been practiced in Japan for over 400 years. Today, the tradition is being kept alive by artisans working in Arimatsu and Kyoto, where Shibori finds its roots.
In this workshop, you will learn the techniques mastered by the artist after a two month internship in Arimatsu. You will be shown how to create some of the patterns traditionally used for Shibori and practice making them yourself.  You will have the option to follow them or to improvise if you feel comfortable.
