Meet Haejin
I am a designer, artist, and maker based in Germany. In my work, I seek to investigate the material properties of wood and their transferal into other materials. My approach is defined by constant experimentation with materials and methods gleaned from the traditional craft. My work is rooted in the philosophy of sculptural simplicity and enduring quality.
On keeping schedules
After work, I always take a bike to come back to home. It takes about 30 mins and I cross a big field. When I bike, I get a lot of inspiration through nature and animals. I also develop my concepts and create an idea for upcoming projects.
On sharing her craft
I hope to share the idea that creating timeless, thoughtful objects can make life more meaningful. Through the making process, one can understand the transformation from materials into an end object. It gives us an appreciation of what we can create with our own efforts and energy.
